Impeller

Date: Jul 05, 2026

It is the core rotating part of centrifugal pumps, blowers & centrifugal compressors, consisting of hub, back shroud, blades (vanes), and optional front shroud. It converts the motor’s rotary mechanical energy into fluid’s kinetic energy and pressure energy via centrifugal force.

Working Principle:

Fluid flows axially into the impeller eye (central inlet);

High-speed spinning blades throw fluid radially outward by centrifugal force to raise flow velocity;

High-speed fluid enters volute casing/diffuser, velocity turns into static pressure for delivery;

Common Applications:

Centrifugal water pump、chemical process pump

Air blower, turbo compressor (air compressor, turbocharger

HVAC fan, industrial ventilation

Raw material:

Common materials for centrifugal impeller:Cast stainless steel / Carbon steel / Alloy steel / Aluminum alloy / Titanium alloy(TC4/Ti6Al4V)

Key control:Material certificate 3.1 (EN10204),chemical composition inspection, raw material UT/MT non-destructive test

Machining:

Rough machining:casting blank rough turning, rough milling

Finish machining:CNC turning, 5-axis CNC milling for complex blade profile, bore & keyway finishing

Post-process:dynamic balancing machining (usually grade G1.0/G1.6 for impeller.

Testing:

Dimensional inspection:CMM coordinate measuring for blade size, run-out tolerance

NDT:MPI magnetic particle test, UT ultrasonic test for casting crack check.

Dynamic balance test:dynamic balancing inspection per ISO 1940 standard

Optional:hydraulic pressure test /air tightness test for compressor impeller
