The machine tool column is the vertical core load-bearing casting for vertical machining centers and gantry machines. It is mounted vertically on the base, supporting the spindle head and Z-axis slide unit, serving as the key component for vertical spindle movement.

· Function: Resists bending moment and overturning force generated during cutting. Z-axis guideways are arranged on the side face of the column to guarantee positioning accuracy for vertical spindle travel. Internal reinforced rib structure suppresses cutting chatter.

· Material: Grey cast iron GG25 / GG30 as standard; ductile iron for heavy-duty models; Mineral casting for high-precision premium machines.

· Process: The casting undergoes stress relief treatment to remove residual casting stress. Guideway datum surfaces are precision machined and ground. Pre-machined features include guideway mounting surfaces, ball screw support holes, cooling channels and pipeline ports.

· Features: Box-type ribbed construction, high bending rigidity, excellent vibration damping and good thermal stability. Minimal long-term deformation to secure machining accuracy under heavy cutting.

· Application: Vertical machining centers, gantry machining centers, vertical grinding machines and CNC vertical lathes.
